History of Night Vision Goggles
It began in 1895 when Ferdinand Braun discovered the cathode ray tube. In 1907 Boris Rosing was able to use the cathode ray tube to produce images on a screen. In 1924 Louis de Broglie hypothesized that electrons may be similar to wavelengths. The idea of turning electrons into images was an idea by C. Holst and H. de Boer in 1928. The first successful device was in 1934 and named the "Host Glass". The first night vision devices were made in 1939 in Germany and were put on top of their guns. They used infrared light to better see the enemies at night. In the 60s night vision goggles were designed and from the years onward continued improving. It went from only working with moon light to needing less and less ambient light. The night vision goggles continue to improve by getting less bulky, weighing less, and having sharper, clearer images.
